B/S Brace

The B/S Brace is an ultra-flat, self-activating nail correction brace made of fiberglass-reinforced duroplast – developed in Germany, successfully used in practices and studios worldwide.
All braces - Classic, Magnet, Magnet+ and Quick - are based on the same high-quality base material.
The only difference lies in the Type of Application:

The B/S Classic brace is applied using a steel applicator precisely placed on the nail and secured with special adhesive.

With the steel applicator

Magnet:

The B/S Magnet brace is applied with the innovative Multi-Applicator applied. An integrated magnet in the applicator and a magnetic coating in the center of the brace allow for almost effortless application.
Additionally, a center marking on the brace and applicator ensures precise positioning.

Magnet+:

Works on the same principle as the Magnet brace, but is 4 mm wide (instead of 3 mm). It is particularly suitable for severely involuted nails such as thick involuted nails.

Quick

The B/S Quick brace requires no separate applicator. It is pre-mounted on a flexible plastic carrier and applied directly to the nail in a single step.

Each brace requires the same system components:

B/S Adhesive (special adhesive)
B/S Cleaner (cleaner for pre- and post-treatment)
B/S Activator (quick-drying accelerator for the adhesive)

The Application instruments vary depending on the system - from Steel Applicator via Multi-Applicator up to the pre-mounted Quick solution.

1. Measuring aid

By placing the appropriate measuring aids on the toenail, all six brace sizes can be easily determined.

2. Center marking

To determine the center of the nail, there is a marking on each measuring surface. Using a notch, the nail can be easily marked with a pencil.

3. Central fixation

The magnetic mounting surface can be used universally for braces of any size. Thanks to an integrated center marking, attaching the brace is particularly easy. The brace is centrally fixed by pressing it firmly onto the toenail.

4. Fixation aids

After centering the B/S brace, the protruding ends are pressed down using the opposing fixation aids.

The Multi-Applicator in use

The nail width can be precisely determined using the measuring aid.

To determine the center of the nail, each measuring surface has a center marking.

Using a notch, the nail can be easily marked with a pencil. Afterwards, the B/S Brace Magnet and Magnet+ is broadly applied using the center fixation.

In the final step, the brace ends are pressed firmly with the multi-applicator's fixing aid.

Instructions – Application of B/S Brace Magnet and Magnet+

Things to consider before treatment

no foot baths

no disinfectants

no oiling or creaming

no nail polish remover (re-greasing oils)

Switch off wet drilling technique

The nail may be cleaned with 96 percent alcohol (ethanol).

Applying the brace – to the nail to be corrected – can be done without special preparation and in a short amount of time.
In technical terms, we call this “applying” or “the application”!

Typically, the B/S brace is applied as part of professional foot care.

Application – Step by Step

Step 1.

Preparation

Prepare nail

For a firm and secure attachment of the B/S brace, it is necessary to roughen the nail plate. Strong nails should be filed thinner. The nail surface is roughened with a diamond or corundum burr.

Degreasing

Degrease and clean the nail with a drop of B/S Cleaner on a swab. Then dry the nail with the dry part of the swab.

Apply B/S Activator

Now coat the entire nail with the B/S Activator pen. The activator is necessary for the safe and fast setting of the adhesive.

Determine brace size

All B/S brace sizes are marked on the concave surfaces of the applicator's long sides. Simply place it on the nail to determine the perfect brace size. The measuring surface must not extend into the nail fold and must also not be too short. This ensures that the brace does not come into contact with the nail fold.

Optimal placement

The fastest and most effective results with the B/S brace are achieved when it is adhered 1 to 2 mm behind the painful area. This allows the nail to grow over the problem spot pain-free and correcting its shape.

Mark Nail Center

The center of each brace size is marked by a notch in the curve of the multi-applicator. Use this to also mark the center of the nail with a pencil. This facilitates optimal alignment of the B/S brace.

Step 2.

Application

Prepare B/S Brace

Using a diamond or corundum burr, thin the ends of the B/S brace on the rough side by approximately 2 - 4 mm. This makes it easier to press the ends onto the nail and prevents them from sticking out.

Apply B/S Adhesive

Apply a small drop of adhesive to the center of the brace's magnetic point area, without spreading it.

Note:

This guide is based on standard size 18. The larger the B/S brace, the more adhesive is required.

Possible Alternative:

Apply the adhesive directly to the nail and the activator to the brace.

Turning the applicator

Turn the applicator upside down. Please do not turn it sideways. This prevents the adhesive from running to the end of the brace and sticking to the applicator.

Securing the center

Now press the B/S brace onto the center of the nail for approximately 10 to 15 seconds.
Align with the pre-marked pencil line.
Afterwards, carefully lift the applicator from the adhered brace.

Securing the brace ends

Now use the pressing tool on the opposite side of the applicator.
To do this, use one side of the pressing tool to press the protruding end against the nail for approximately 10 to 15 seconds.
Carefully lift the applicator from the adhered side and repeat the process on the other end of the brace.
Ensure that the ends of the B/S brace lie flat against the nail and do not protrude.
If there's not enough adhesive under the brace, you can apply a little more under any protruding brace end.

Clean the nail with B/S cleaner

Vor der Versiegelung bitte den Aktivator und den Magnetpoint der Spange entfernen.
Geben Sie dafür mehrere Tropfen B/S Reiniger auf einem Tupfer und reinigen Sie damit die gesamte Nagelplatte.

Achtung:

Der Aktivator darf nicht mit dem Kleber in Berührung kommen, da der Kleber sonst austrocknet, Fäden zieht oder die Haltbarkeit verkürzt wird.

Schritt 3.

Anpassung

Individuell Korrekturkräfte anpassen

Verspürt Ihr Patient nach der Verklebung der B/S Spange einen Zugschmerz, oder ein unangenehmes Ziehen, so ist die Korrekturkraft zu stark. Die angeklebte B/S Spange müssen Sie in diesem Fall, in den Endbereichen, oder, wenn dies nicht ausreicht, insgesamt gefühlvoll dünner schleifen.

Ihr Vorteil:

Die Korrektur der B/S Spange erfolgt auf dem Nagel! Diese verspürt der Patient sofort. Abstehende Spangenenden können Sie bei weniger als 1 mm wegschleifen.

Schritt 4.

Abschluss und Nachsorge

Die abschließende Versiegelung

Um eine besonders feste und wasserresistente Verankerung zu erzielen, versiegeln Sie mit dem
B/S Kleber den Nagel mit der bereits aufgeklebten B/S Spange.
Verteilen Sie den B/S Kleber zügig wie einen Nagellack über die gesamte Nageloberfläche.

Die Nachversorgung

Nach dem Abtrocknen der Versiegelung (ca. 5 Minuten) kann die übliche Nagelversorgung durchgeführt werden:
- Tamponieren des Nagelfalzes
- Anlegen von Salbenverbänden
- Lackieren der Nägel
- Fußbäder
- Cremen und Ölen

Removal of the B/S brace (after 4–6 weeks) for follow-up treatments

Das Ablösen der B/S Spange

Benutzen Sie am besten eine gerade Nagelzange zum Ablösen der B/S Spange.
Setzen Sie die Zange dazu an einem Ende „zwischen Spange und Nagel“ an.
So können Sie die Verklebung einfach sprengen und die Spange vorsichtig vom Nagel lösen. Anschließend kann der Kleber, der als Versiegelung fungiert, vom Nagel abgefräst werden.

Important notes in addition to application

Batch Number & Shelf Life

The adhesive's batch number is located on the lid and is the Best Before Date.

Example: Batch No. 1025 → BBD: October 2025

Handling the Adhesive

The adhesive brush do not wipe off on the bottle neck.
Otherwise, blockages will occur! This also ensures you have the perfect amount of adhesive.

Adhesive & Activator

Adhesive and activator must not avoid contact, the consequences are:

The adhesive's shelf life is reduced
The adhesive strings
The bottle's contents harden

Freeze adhesive!

Die Haltbarkeit des Klebers verlängert sich um die Zeit, in der dieser sich im Gefrierfach befindet.

CAUTION!

Der Kleber muss bei Zimmertemperatur angewendet werden, ca. 21–24 Grad. Bitte achten Sie auch darauf, dass der B/S Kleber bei einer Luftfeuchtigkeit von mindestens 40% angewendet wird, da dieser unter 40% nicht mehr polymerisiert.

Test activator

Mit dem Stift über ein Blatt Papier streichen, wenn dieser Flüssigkeit abgibt, funktioniert er noch. Wichtig: Aktivator immer fest verschließen!

Zug zu stark?

Ist der Zug der Spange nach der Verklebung zu stark, einfach die Spange gefühlvoll an den beiden Enden dünner fräsen. Wenn notwendig schleifen Sie die gesamte Spange dünner.
